Post 10- Tests

Objective:
A collection of photographic / video / page layout / editing techniques / typography that displays potential creative decisions you could include in your final pieces. Your tests must answer the following questions:
• What are you testing?
 • What skills are you developing?
• What meaning are you trying to construct?
• Are you applying a media theory? Which one?
• Are you using intertextuality? How?

Magazine plan:

The photos above i have taken myself i have done this because i wanted to practise different photography techniques so i can have a idea of the kind of imagery i would like to place in my magazine and website.I used different types of angles and shot types such as mid shots but on one of the pictures i used a low angle looking up and another angle doing the opposite so i can have a range of different options to use.I mainly took influnce from the givenchy campaign so i could use some of their techniques within my photography by using filters to convey the tone of the picture and the clothes being used.I dont want any movement within my frames i want the actor to not be conveying any movements and to remain in a sort of pose like the givenchy models. I want the composition of my photos to have a large amount to be the model of course but a importance on the background which conveys the mood and tone of the entire photo.

These advert campaigns are main inspiration for my magazine cover the darker colour palette just stands out by using more hue colours rather than traditional bright colours which all magazines tend to use so i want my magazine to be different and i want my magazines name to stand out against a darker hue of the picture. I like the symmetry of the clothes to the background which i would like to implement into my magazine cover.

Types of font:

The type of font i want for the title which is called anurati im trying to convey a modern/futuristic feel for the magazine as a whole.

The main text font ill be using is times font where its simple and easy to read for my audience rather than having a over the top font you will struggle to read.

First Cover:

I want my front cover to have a similar style of GQ men covers and i have taken photos similar to their style while using other styles so i can have a range of ideas to choose from.In adition the age range for this cover is men aged 19 - 25.

my friends as my model and the mise en scene is going to be on a green screen because i may implement a complete white background or maybe grey since my model is gonna wear a blue suit.with the GQ examples above the classic white background to contrast with what ever colour clothing the model is wearing just shows sophistication which leads to our class A and B audience since most likely then will be wearing more smart casual wear than casual wear.In addition i didnt want to seem out of place by photoshopping in a artificial background because it wouldnt suit my demographic.

Second Cover:

This magazine cover has a same age range of the original cover but has a hip hop themed setup because i would like my alternate cover to have a different type of culture implemented to show different variations of fashion around the world so as time goes on my readers will be exposed to many variations of the worlds fashions.

Background ideas:

cover 1

I like the dark beach style look which the dsquared uses which looks unique and different to the usual bright beach pictures which all of them use.So i want to change it up so my magazine stands out so it is unique. this is the main idea im looking to implement in the magazine like the example on the right picture above.I want to tone to resemble the background by being calm and iconic i want to have nice fashion styles and opinions without being corny and trying to seem like a child which wants attention.

cover 2

i wanted to incorporate a background which looks like a award background but as the latest edition logo instead to make it look like we have our own awards to make the magazine appear more professional and appeal to the demographic with this background.
